with a dusty old box of tiny houses I found “exploring” my grandparents’ attic. They were in sad shape with just a few surviving spots of glitter but to me they were absolutely magical!

When I worked up the courage to show the houses to my stern German grandfather, instead of the scolding I expected for “getting into things” he offered to help me fix them!

As we worked around the kitchen table patching, painting & glittering the houses my grandfather turned into a completely different person.  Smiling and laughing, he and my grandmother shared stories of long ago Christmas celebrations when they were young and those putz houses had been magical to them too.    

That box of little houses disappeared years ago and my grandparents have passed, but those memories are the spark behind recreating these glittery putz house kits.
